Our Little Love Bugs If you have visited our site much lately, you may have noticed information was a bit outdated. We have been crazy on another project. Love Bugs Co. was started in 2006, not long after our second “Love Bug” was born. We had decided to try cloth diapers before Kate was born for a variety of reasons. After she came home from the hospital with burns and blisters on her bum from disposable diapers, cloth diapering was a done deal. Kate is our little canary… She seems to react to everything. When she was four months old, she had her first anaphylactic life-threatening reaction to a sip of milk-based formula and we soon learned that she had multiple life-threatening food allergies. Now Kate is 3 ½ and heading to preschool in the fall and we are freaking out! Despite reading every label, avoiding many parties and gatherings, skipping the dinners out at fancy restaurants and packing epi-pens, benedryl, a nebulizer and food for every outing, we still have been in the ER far more than we can remember. In 2008 alone, we were there almost every month.
We learned recently that there are now allergy alert service dogs and Kate qualifies for one. Why are we sharing all of this with you? Because, we desperately need the help of friends, family, our customers and the goodness of strangers to help us out. Each service dog costs about $15,000 fully trained.
